What to Expect

DROP OFF DAY

The first day of camp is a different experience for everyone. For some, excitement is high in anticipation of the adventure ahead, for others it might be there first time away from home and they are nervous! Their counselor's mission is to meet them where they're at, get to know them, and help get them adjust to the new environment. For Take Me Fishing (TMF) campers, this evening includes their introduction chapel and a fishing workshop! Our TMF coordinator is a seasoned fisherman and walks through the basics of fishing before heading out to the lakes!

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR BUNK GROUP

Early in the morning on the second day, TMF campers pack up their things and head out to Okoboji! Once there, the unload the trailer and set up base camp. They set up their tents and begin to settle into their home for the next couple days.

After settling in they get on the boats and go fishing! Campers are accompanied by other seasoned fisherman who have been fishing for years. They share great truths that go along with fishing! Once the kids are done fishing for the day they have a fish fry for supper. Going into the evening the kids engage in worship, bible studies and chapel!

GETTING TO THE DEEP STUFF

On Wednesday morning, the campers wake up to some food cooked over the campfire and get ready for the day! It is a similar schedule to Tuesday of fishing and chapel.

However, what makes day 3 really special is commitment chapel, an evening chapel in which we encourage campers to reflect on their faith and learn about what it really means to live as a Christian. During this night, some campers will choose to give their lives to the Lord for the first time. Campers also get an opportunity to talk through their faith one on one with their counselor and ask any hard questions they may have.

Breaking Camp

The last full day of camp! Take me fishing campers wake up, have breakfast and break camp! Once everything is packed up the campers go out onto the water for the last time in hopes to get some great catches. After a sack lunch they head back to camp and enjoy the rest of their night! After the last supper they have bibe study, chapel, and bunk group time!

For many, this is an unforgettable night where deep connections are formed as the campers reminisce on their experiences and look forward to their new friendships and their relationship with God!

FINAL CHAPEL!

After a long, exciting, life-changing week of spending time with friends and with the Lord, it's finally time to wrap up the summer camp experience. After breakfast, each camper packs up their things and proceeds to one final large group game which will include every camper from every camp of the week! During this time, parents are welcome to bring their lawn chairs and come before noon for a big cookout and to enjoy final chapel. This chapel includes a recap of the week and one last opportunity for all campers to praise the Lord together before departure. We encourage campers to share with their families what they learned at camp on the ride home.
